The nerve system consists of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and neurotransmitters. Your nerve system literally controls and coordinates all functions in your body. All systems in the body communicate with each other and the brain via the nerve system. The nerve system is known as the master control system, it controls and regulates everything…the immune system, circulatory system, respiratory system, digestive system, endocrine system, muscular system, skeletal system, reproductive system, and excretory system all need the nerve system to function properly so they can function properly.
The spine protects the spinal cord and allows nerve roots to exit and branch out to all areas of the body. The spine is designed to move and be in alignment. When the spine is aligned and moving well there is clear and optimal nerve system energy and function. When the spine is misaligned and/or restricted in movement there is interference in nerve system energy and function. This is vital, since the nerve system is the master system that controls and coordinates all functions of the body, it is very important to take care of the spine because the spine directly affects the nerve system. In short, the spine affects the nerve system, and the nerve system affects the whole body!
When the spine is misaligned or restricted in movement it is called a subluxation. This loss of motion and/or alignment in the spine causes the body to break down at an increased rate. Specifically, a subluxation causes: 1) a decrease in health promoting signals to the brain (proprioception) 2) an increase in stress signals to the brain (nocioception) 3) a break down and degeneration of the spine and related structures 4) an interference in nerve system function and energy. 5) overall breakdown and degeneration of the whole body.
Good spinal hygiene clears out subluxations in the spine. Good spinal hygiene requires 1) exercises that strengthen the muscles surrounding the spine (core spinal hygiene exercises) and 2) chiropractic adjustments to free up any restrictions in movement of the spine. Chiropractic and core spinal hygiene exercises also work together to retrain the spine into optimal alignment. When chiropractic and core spinal hygiene exercises are performed regularly it restores proper spinal function, which in turn restores proper nerve system function, which in turn restores proper function to all systems in the body…When you have good Spinal Hygiene, you have Clear Nerve System Energy and Function, and you have "ALL SYSTEMS GO!".

Choices...Relief, Prevention, Wellness
In 'Health Care' you may here about relief, prevention, and wellness. Let's explore...
Relief - mostly everyone who is in some sort of pain or discomfort obviously wants relief...I certainly do whenever I have in pain. However, when relief is the only aim it becomes a shortsighted objective which often times leads to greater problems in the end. 'Relief Only' type of care is usually addressing only the symptoms instead of the cause. This is an old paradigm of care and it is outdated, costly, temporary, and shortsighted.
Prevention- Prevention is a word that gets thrown around a lot. Most people associate prevention with a more expensive/more advanced diagnostic test designed to detect a problem that has already happened at an 'early stage'. So I ask this question: If it has been detected did it get prevented? Therefore I say prevention or preventative care is a type of care that helps prevent something from happening - at any stage. This would include healthy lifestyle choices like exercise, eating nutrient dense whole foods from the earth rather than a package, thinking loving thoughts and keeping a positive affirmative mental attitude, dental hygeine, spinal hygeine (spinal exercises and chiropractic), etc. the difference I think between prevention and wellness is two things: 1) the mindset - focusing on preventing something rather than focusing on being at your best. This thinking tends to keep the focus on the 'diseases' or problems which tends to keep someones mindset 'tuned into' all the diseases and problems, which ultimately limits someone. The wellness and prevention lifestyle choices would be the same, perhaps with wellness the goal is to optimize health which leads to engaging in lifestyle choices more frequently than prevention.
Wellness- Recognition that we need to engage in lifestyle choices that create harmony and balance in mind, body, and spirit so we may be at our best and get the most out of life! Being your best! When we engage in wellness choices, then we focus on being our best, which creates a very empowering mindset. When OPTIMIZING HEALTH is the goal LOOKING GREAT and FEELING GREAT is the natural byproduct!!!

The Importance of the Neuro-Spinal System
The nerve system is the brain, spinal cord, spinal nerves, and neurotransmitters. The nerve system is the master system in the human body. The Spirit/Power/Life Energy/Chi (etc. etc.) that makes us Alive uses the nerve system to control and coordinate all human physiology...it is what makes the mind and body work properly! The nerve system is the medium used to carry our Life Energy that is encoded with information, in the form of mental impulses, from the brain cells to the tissue cells and from the tissue cells back to the brain cells. It is the 'Innernet'.
It is by far the most important system of our body.
The spine and nerve system go hand in hand. The spine is loaded with mechanoreceptors (a neurological relay system to the brain that monitors spinal movement and function). These receptors greatly influence brain function. When the spine is functioning properly, the whole nerve system benefits - and when our whole nerve system benefits our whole being benefits. The spine is so important for overall health, healing and well being.
The spine houses and protects the spinal cord, which is the information highway of our being. It is not only the “health key board” of our body but also is its support structure; just like the “spine” of a building.
The spine is our back, which is what is behind us: our past! The spine harbors all the past experiences we could not properly process and integrate. It is also where we carry everything that we do not want the world to see. It is where we store our “baggage” and our stresses. Many past patterns that no longer serve us lay stagnant, stuck there, affecting our being and physiology.

Sick Care or Health Care?
We often hear the words “health care” in the news. But usually they’re talking about “sick” care. Care that is administered to someone who already has symptoms of an illness or injury. Often times, “healthcare” refers to the heroic efforts we see in the media and on television to save a person’s life using drugs or dramatic surgery.
Is today's health care really "health" care?
True health care involves what we do on a regular basis to stay healthy, the proactive approach we use to create health and wellness that will naturally protect ourselves from life-threatening illnesses and disease. True health is a state in which your body works as it was designed. And it may actually have very little to do with how you “feel.” For example, if you eat tainted fish and you respond with an upset stomach and then vomiting, your body is actually functioning properly (health) and ridding itself of toxins, even though you don’t feel very well.
There are several things you can do to create a proactive approach to stay well and enjoy optimum health:
- Regular exercise – when was the last time a doctor gave you a prescription script for exercise? Yet it is one of the most proactive things you can do.
- Proper nutrition – Many of us do not eat the healthy foods we need to ensure our overall health. People tend to skimp on fruits and vegetables and load up on processed foods.
- Adequate rest – Proper sleep balances your body’s hormones, slows down the aging process and decreases risk factors associated with many illnesses.
- Proper Thinking – Keeping positive thoughts is essential to produce a healthy internal biochemistry.
- Chiropractic care – Keeping your nervous system in tip-top condition helps keep other systems and organs of your body working at their best.
Adopting a proactive approach to healthcare is like brushing your teeth twice daily to prevent dental problems. While rescue measure healthcare may look heroic on television, the real “heroes” practice true “health” care every day of their lives!

Why do Americans continue to purchase more and more wasteful bottled water every year despite bottled water being no safer than tap water? The answer is simple: Marketing.
Water bottles have been showing up more and more in our favorite television programming. Fiji Water frequently appears of the show Brothers & Sisters while Poland Spring water is a common prop on the set of The Office. At Whole Foods, the number one item sold by unit is bottled water, above all other food sold at their supermarkets.
We always hear complaints about the cost of gasoline, but why has bottled water consumption increased so much despite it being 3 to 4 times the cost of gasoline. The intense marketing campaigns of the bottled water corporations have us mindlessly buying water in plastic bottles over and over again. Americans need to realize that we can help the environment and our paychecks by installing in-home water filtration systems, for a fraction of the cost of buying bottled water.

I bought a system that makes 7 types of water...this system is so great in many ways: it is the greatest health promoting system I could find, it eliminates environmental waste, it saves me thousands of dollars over the course of ten to fifteen years, and it even talks to me : )

With the recent recognition of Chiropractic by the American Medical Association, clarification on terminology and purpose is needed. It is my experience that the public is thoroughly confused as to what Chiropractic is and does.
To eliminate any misunderstanding let’s make perfectly clear that Chiropractic and Medicine are two separate and distinct professions.
Medicine deals strictly with sickness and disease whereas Chiropractic deals with the restoration, maintenance and enhancement of health. So at the one end of the spectrum we have Medicine which along with the pharmaceutical companies constitute a sickness and disease management industry. At the other end of the spectrum we have Chiropractic which invests itself exclusively in restoring and maintaining normal function and health.
Medicine care for the ill is based on pathology, medication and surgery. It focuses on ways to either suppress symptoms or to stimulate or inhibit effects.
Chiropractic care is based on health, correction of cause, proper function, purification and cooperation with natural processes.
Where you need to be sick to utilize Medicine, you do not need and preferably you should not be ill to undertake Chiropractic care. Where Medicine studies disease processes. Chiropractic studies health and living processes. Where Medicine is at war to fight, attack, bombard, destroy, and eliminate bacteria, microbe, virus and disease, Chiropractic recognizes that a harmonious symbiotic relationship with our environment is possible, by allowing the body to function properly and adapt within the framework of nature’s laws. Where Medicine fights disease, Chiropractic turns on life.
As much as there is a time and place for Medicine, there is a time and place for Chiropractic. Today Medicine is abused, misused and overused: countless unnecessary surgeries are performed every year and hundredths of thousands of live could be saved by carving out the use of prescription medications and over the counter drugs.Where Medicine shines is in the arena of emergency, first aid and crisis care.
Chiropractic is misused and underused by many as well, frequently used as a last resort when it should be first choice. Common sense dictates that the sequence of care needs to be from the least invasive to the most invasive. So, Chiropractic first, Medicine second and surgery last.
In conclusion both professions are fully separate and distinct in principle, reasoning and method of practice. One is not exclusive of the other.

The American Medical Association - Guilty of Federal Crimes against Chiropractic

"Chiropractors don't have real schooling" ... etc. etc.
Did you ever hear these kind of comments from people or physicians? The sad thing is most people who have a bias against chiropractic have never tried it, really read up on it, or evaluated the philosophy, art and science or chiropractic. In a over simplified analogy, it is sort of like a child complaining that they don't like a vegetable, yet they never tried it.
Did you ever wonder why the undertones of this bias seems to perpetuate in our society? I have friends that practice in Ireland, Italy, Spain, and other places overseas. They tell me that the bias seems to be the opposite...chiropractic is highly revered or at least the people are completely open to it.
Most people don't know where this came from in our country. Most people are unaware of the truth about the AMA's conspiracy against chiropractic. Yes, conspiracy...organized medicine spent decades and millions of dollars trying to discredit and destroy chiropractic.
On August 27, 1987, Judge Susan Getzendanner, United States District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois Eastern Division, found the American Medical Association, The American College of Surgeons, and The American College of Radiology, guilty of having conspired to destroy the profession of chiropractic in the United States. In a 101-page opinion, Judge Getzendanner ruled that the American Medical Association and its co-conspirators had violated the Sherman Antitrust Laws of the United States. Evidence at the trial showed that the defendants took active steps, often covert, to undermine chiropractic educational institutions, conceal evidence of the usefulness of chiropractic care, undercut insurance programs for patients of chiropractors, subvert government inquiries into the efficacy of chiropractic, engage in a massive disinformation campaign to discredit and destabilize the chiropractic profession and engage in numerous other activities to maintain a medical physician monopoly over health care in this country.
It is a shame that hundreds of thousands of caring medical doctors and millions of their patients were deceived by the AMA. This deception perpetuated ideas and concepts against chiropractic founded on dogma, not science, not clinical outcomes...not results... it stemmed from criminal corruption.
The fact is that chiropractic care is so great, powerful, and helpful for people that the AMA felt threatened.

Cultural Doubt and Unbelief Needs to be Shattered
I was reflecting on the intentions I have set in regards to my Chiropractic career, which is to lead as many people as possible to higher levels of health and well-being through chiropractic wellness and sharing the truth about health, healing and well-being. I realize these intentions are not so easy to attain. For a few underlying reasons there is a tremendous amount of doubt and unbelief about what chiropractic is and does in our society. My level of passion and commitment to the community is high, but resistance and cultural biases still remain.
After reflecting on this I have realized a unique thing about people this day and age. It is an abnormally high level of doubt and unbelief that high levels of health and well-being are our natural state. Also, there is an unusual amount of cynicism towards health, healing, and well-being.
People seem to be clueless that they were born to be healthy and vibrant. They really believe that their bodies are weak and broken, life is sickness, and that they will most likely crawl into the grave after suffering some life robbing illness. That’s the way they see most other people going, so they don’t expect anything else. Not only do they expect nothing better but … they do nothing to change the ‘normal’ path to sickness, degenerative disease and death.
This has caused me to realize the seriousness of my work – literally - people are dying because of faulty beliefs about how the body works, how health is created, and what healing is! No Joke, most people are slowly ‘wilting and withering’ over time into a sickly state and continue to get worse over time. This kind of living robs most people of the quality of life they deserve and moreover puts them to any early death. Vitalistic Living is the solution and they need to hear it. The cultural cynicism, doubt and unbelief needs to be broken by the truth. It needs to be shattered by changed lives and restored health.
I am ensuring you that I am committed to helping people get their life back to healthy and vibrant! I am even expecting that YOU will pick up the ball and work with me to break through the attitudes that are killing people (killing most people slowly and steadily).
There is a reason that our country spends the most on ‘health’ care yet ranks 37th in overall health performance. The current mindset of doubt and unbelief about health and healing has become a cultural paradigm towards health that is perpetuated by the pharmaceutical industry which advertises to the general public by the tune of over 19 million dollars a day, along with the pharmaceutical reps educating and influencing medical doctors about the ‘benefits’ of their drugs.
For the record, of course drugs and surgery are necessary and valuable, especially in crisis, however the current way drugs and surgery are practiced in our society is a major problem. In addition, I ask you this: What drug or surgery is going to cure a sickness or disease that results from deficiency and toxicity in how people eat, move, and think?
Your family, your neighbors, your co-workers and your friends all need to be lead to higher levels of health. Let’s commit to showing them the love and encouragement necessary so they give up their old beliefs and open up to a new and better life. Let’s help people get well and stay well!
Whatever needs to be done, to get the people in our community under regular, vitalistic, chiropractic wellness care…let’s do it. Their life depends on it. My intention is to help as many people as possible live a life with higher levels of health and well-being, and to do that I need your help too! Keep encouraging your friends and family and together we will see attitudes and lives transformed!

Cleansing and The Master Cleanse
Some points of information:
Use greens when juicing: kale, swiss chard, mustard greens, parsley, beet greens, etc.
Those with blood sugar challenges will usually do fine with the food cleanse.
Below is a cleanse I do twice a year and feel it is the easiest cleanse, because it is liquid food and will actually fill you up if you try to drink a gallon a day (most people find impossible to get in a whole gallon a day...they are too full)
THE MASTER CLEANSE OR LEMONADE DIET
Purpose:
To dissolve and eliminate toxins and congestion that have formed in the body.
To cleanse the kidneys and the digestive system.
To purify the glands and cells throughout the entire body.
To eliminate all unusable waste and hardened material in the joints and muscles.
To relieve pressure and irritation in the nerves, arteries, and blood vessels.
To build a healthy blood stream.
To keep youth and elasticity regardless of our years.
WHEN TO USE IT?
When sickness has developed— for all acute and chronic conditions.
When the digestive system needs a rest and a cleansing.
When overweight has become a problem.
When better assimilation and building of body tissue is needed.
AND HOW OFTEN?
Follow the diet for a minimum of 10 days or more— up to 40 days and beyond may be safely followed for extremely serious cases. The diet has all the nutrition needed during this time. Three to four times a year will do wonders for keeping the body in a normal healthy condition. The diet may be undertaken more frequently for serious conditions.
HOW TO MAKE IT?
One serving:
-2 Tablespoons juice from fresh organic from lemons
-2 Tablespoons organic grade b 100% maple syrup
-1/10 Teaspoon(400 mg) cayenne pepper (40,000 heat units or more, buy capsules-open them up)
-10 oz purified water, room temp, (purified water or distilled—distilled is best for this cleanse)
One quart:
You can combine 3 servings: (juice, maple syrup, water and cayenne pepper) in a glass quart jar (30oz of the drink). Shake it up and drink. (Cold water may be used if preferred.) Must use glass!!! Plastic will leach harmful toxins.
*(you can use a product called cool cayenne if needed)
HOW MUCH DOES ONE DRINK?
Take six to twelve servings of the lemonade drink daily during the waking period (at least six). Drink one glass at least every hour and a half for best results. As you get hungry just have another serving of the lemonade drink. NO OTHER FOOD SHOULD BE TAKEN DURING THE FULL PERIOD OF THE DIET. As this is a complete balance of minerals and vitamins, one does not suffer the pangs of hunger. Do not use vitamin pills. All solid food is turned into a liquid state before the blood can carry it to the cells. The lemonade is already a food in liquid form. For those who are overweight, less maple syrup may be taken. For those underweight, more maple syrup may be taken. For those who are underweight and worried about losing more weight, REMEMBER, the only things you can possible lose are mucus; waste, and disease. Healthy tissue will not be eliminated. Many people who need to gain weight actually do so near the end of the diet period. Never vary the amount of lemon juice per serving. About six servings of lemonade a day is enough for those wishing to reduce. Extra water may be taken as desired.
ELIMINATING
As this is a cleansing diet, the more you can assist Nature to eliminate poisons, the better. IF YOUR SYSTEM FEELS UPSET, IT IS BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT HAVING SUFFICIENT ELIMINATION. Avoid this possibility by following these directions completely (laxative tea and salt water cleanse-see next page). Above all, be sure you have two, three, or more movements a day. This may seem unnecessary not eating solid food, but it is Nature’s way of eliminating the waste it has loosened from the various cells and organs in the body. They must leave the body some way. It would be just the same as sweeping the floor around and around and never removing the dirt from the house if the wastes were not passed out. The better the elimination, the more rapid will be the results.
-A LAXATIVE HERB TEA is found to be the best helper for most persons. It is a good practice to take a good laxative herb tea right from the beginning— the last thing at night and first thing in the morning. There are several good laxative teas. They are best taken in a liquid form. Buy them in your health food store.
-INTERNAL SALT WATER BATHING
As it is necessary to bathe the outside of our bodies, so it is with the inside. Do not take enemas or colonics at any time during the cleansing diet or afterwards. They are unnecessary and can be extremely harmful. There is a much superior method of cleansing the colonic tract without the harmful effects of customary colonics and enemas. This method will cleanse the entire digestive tract while the colonics and enemas will only reach the colon or a small part of it. Colonics can be expensive while our salt-water method is not. DIRECTIONS: Prepare a full quart of lukewarm water and add two level teaspoons of uniodized sea salt. Do not use ordinary iodized salt, as it will not work properly. Drink the entire quart of salt and water first thing in the morning. This must be taken on an empty stomach (you can lick a cut lemon to make your taste buds tart, then drink the salt water - this is a trick that makes it a lot easier to drink the salt water). The salt and water will not separate but will stay intact and quickly and thoroughly wash the entire tract in about one hour. Several eliminations will likely occur. The salt water has the same specific gravity as the blood, hence the kidneys cannot pick up the water and the blood cannot pick up the salt. This may be taken as often as needed for proper washing of the entire digestive system. If the salt water does not work the first time, try adding a little more or a little less salt until the proper balance is found; or possible take extra water with or without salt. This often increases the activity. Remember, it can do no harm at any time. The colon needs a good washing, but do it the natural way—the salt water way. It is quite advisable to take the herb laxative tea at night to loosen, then the salt water each morning to wash it out. If for some reason the salt water cannot be taken in the morning, then the herb laxative tea must be taken night and morning.
REMEMBER:
You must use all organic ingredients!!! You must use purified water (distilled is best). You must use glass. You must drink at least six servings of the lemonade drink a day (6 to 12 servings a day). You must eliminate 2 or more times a day, by the aid of laxative teas and the salt water flush. If you follow all these steps you are going to have a successful cleanse, and will do a world of difference to help clean out and rebuild your body.

Your Invitation
There is only one way to get well, and that is healing. Treating and healing are very different. The goal of treatment is to make a symptom go away or feel better. The goal of healing is to have the body replace sick/injured/diseased cells with healthy cells. Healing is done through the law of cellular replacement...to get the sick cells to be replaced by healthy cells.

Free Yourself from the 'Treatment Merry Go Round'
I am confident and know my expertise, which is healing, and I am here to serve others with love, education and skillful service.
There seems to be a wonderful awareness that the current mechanistic allopathic treatment model that is called 'Health Care' is actually Sick Care. People are realizing that they want to get out of Sick Care and into real Health Care. Actually, there is a place for both types of care in your life, and knowing how and when to apply the appropriate type of care for the desired outcome you want is vital.
The current 'Health Care' system is an allopathic medical care system that is wonderful for emergency and crisis interventions. It saves lives!!! It is also great for buying time and helping people who need some assistance dealing with a symptom or 'disease process'. Allopathic Medicine is great and often life saving for these aforementioned situations. However, this type of care does not create health for you.
What about Health Care? What about healing, health, wellness, and wholeness? What about creating health in your body?
The chronic degenerative diseases that the modern world is plagued with is ridiculous!!! Our current 'health care' system here in the states is a failed system when it comes to health performance and quality of life. Read the reports; we spend more than any other country, have the best technology, the best drugs, the best surgeons etc etc etc ... yet we rate 37th in overall health performance. Statistically, each person is disabled in some form or another by the age of 63.
There is a point in time when a person reaches enough awareness that they will want something better...and that is when the treatment merry go round will be over.
Is this you? perhaps you have experienced or are experiencing right now the treatment merry go round; you have some problem and get treatment, then you have another problem and get another treatment, then you have another problem and get treatment and then another and so on and so on.
You can choose to get off the Treatment Merry Go Round.

I do believe wholeheartedly that you can heal and will be able to stay away from the 'merry go round' of treatment to treatment to treatment... Free yourself from the treatment 'merry go round' and get well.
Remember, your body is made up of cells...cells make tissues...tissues make organs...and organs make systems. Your cells each have a lifespan rate; which means the 'stuff' in a cell and the whole cell itself will die off and be replaced by new cell 'stuff' and new cells in it's place. For example, your skin cells take around 5 to 7 days to cycle...your muscles, ligaments, and tendons about 4 to 6 weeks (that is why when someone sprains their ankle it is usually about 4-6 weeks before they are back to 'normal')...your entire skeleton can take up to 10 years! http://www.hu.liu.se/ike/klinisk_kemi2/magnusson.
The good news is that most of your cells are replaced within a year!!! So, you can rebuild a new you within a year : )
When your cells are replaced with new cells there are basically three ways that this process can happen. The cells will either be replaced by cells which are 1) worse, 2) the same, or 3) better. All healing is done by replacing 'sick', injured, stressed, or 'diseased' cells with healthy cells (better cells).
So, you may ask, how can I get my cells to turnover better. That is the question my friend. You will read below the best way I have found to do this. I challenge anyone to put this to the test for 6 months to a year. Prove it wrong. If you genuinely do this with an open mind, I bet you will be forever grateful.

Alkalizing
pH (potential of hydrogen) is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. It is measured on a scale of 0 to 14—the lower the pH the more acidic the solution, the higher the pH the more alkaline (or base) the solution.
When a solution is neither acid nor alkaline it has a pH of 7 which is neutral. A healthy pH of 7.4 - 7.5 is desirable. When healthy, the pH of blood is 7.4, the pH of spinal fluid is 7.4, and the pH of saliva is 7.4. The pH of saliva parallels the extra cellular fluid... pH test of saliva represents the most consistent and most definitive physical sign of the ionic calcium deficiency syndrome.
It is important to understand that we are not talking about stomach acid or the pH of the stomach. We are talking about the pH of the body's fluids and tissues which is an entirely different matter.
Alkaline and Acid Forming Foods
The body needs both types of foods. However alkaline forming food should predominate over acid forming ones. Everyone is different, but for most, the ideal diet is 75 percent alkalizing and 25 percent acidifying foods by volume.
Acid forming foods meat, sugars, eggs and dairy and most grains, white flour and carbonated beverages are acid forming. Drugs are acid forming. Artificial chemical sweetener's like NutraSweet, Equal, or Aspartame, are extremely acid-forming.
Over acidity, which can become a dangerous condition that weakens all body systems, is very common today. It gives rise to an internal environment conducive to disease, as opposed to a pH-balanced environment which allows normal body function necessary for the body to resist disease. A healthy body maintains adequate alkaline reserves (Electrolytes) to meet emergency demands. When excess acids must be neutralized our alkaline reserves are depleted leaving the body in a weakened condition.
This condition forces the body to borrow the (Electrolyte) minerals-including calcium, sodium, potassium and magnesium-from vital organs and bones to buffer (neutralize) the acid and safely remove it from the body. Because of this strain, the body can suffer severe and prolonged damage due to high acidity, a condition that may go undetected for years.
Acid forming foods rob your body of critical electrolytes (calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium). These nutrients are critical for neutralizing acids. Only fresh fruits and vegetables are alkaline producing to help your body maintain a healthy pH balance.
Studies have consistently shown that heavy consumers of soft drinks (with or without sugar) lose huge amounts of calcium, magnesium, and other trace minerals into their urine. The more mineral loss, the greater the risk for osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, hypothyroidism, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, and a long list of degenerative diseases.
Don't Be Fooled
The foods we eat are digested and they break down into either an acid or an alkaline end-product in our tissues. This end-product is called the "ash" and is what remains in the body after the food has been broken down. Foods that produce an alkaline ash are called "alkaline forming food" whereas those producing acid ash are called "acid-forming" foods.
Important
A food's acid or alkaline-forming tendency in the body has nothing to do with the actual pH of the food itself. For example: Though lemons, limes, and grapefruits are chemically acid, tests show that when they are metabolized in the body they actually have an alkalizing effect and are very beneficial. They are very mineral rich which causes an overall net effect of alkalinity when broken down in the body. They have very little sugar. And they contain an abundance of oxygen. Lemons are said to be the richest source of minerals and vitamins of any food or foods known to man.
Likewise, meat will test alkaline before digestion but it leaves very acidic residue in the body so, like nearly all animal products, meat is very acid-forming. Acid forming foods such as (meats, eggs, diary, white sugar and white flour, carbonated beverages and artificial chemical sweetener's like NutraSweet, Equal, or Aspartame) should be limited. Of course, you would do better with the least amount of meat and no milk products as they are very productive of mucus and hinder digestion and absorption of nutrients.
The internal balance of your pH is very important, unfortunately few medical practitioners in western medicine are aware of the major role it plays in causing diseases. Fresh organic fruits and vegetables are alkaline forming in the body and contain many electrolyte minerals that help to maintain a healthy pH balance of 7.4 and a reserve of critical electrolytes.

The Grow Light
“Life always changing, ...it’s dynamic, ...the cells in your body are replacing themselves constantly, …you are never the same ‘you’, because you are constantly changing”. These statements I seem to share often with the people I serve in my chiropractic office Cafe of Life. Did you ever stop to think about how amazing your body is? 50,000 of the cells in your body will die and be replaced with new cells, all while you have been reading this sentence! In 1 square inch of skin there lie 4 yards of nerve fibers, 1300 nerve cells, 100 sweat glands, 3 million cells, and 3 yards of blood vessels. Nerve impulses between the body and brain can travel as fast as 286 miles per hour. One human brain generates more electrical impulses in a single day than all of the world's telephones put together.
Wow, we are truly magnificent, and life is completely amazing. What is this wonderful and mysterious thing we call life? Well, one thing we know is that it shows up as electrical energy in your nerve system. You see, the difference between dead or alive is the absence or presence of electrical energy in the nerve system. You see, a corpse has a nerve system, all the parts of the body, and the necessary chemicals for life, but doesn't have LIFE. As stated before, the difference between someone alive and someone dead is the electrical energy that travels over the nerve system, and it’s this energy in the nerve system that gives power and function to the body. All of the amazing and wonderful things your body does are regulated by this nerve energy. This is why I call nerve energy – Life Energy.
The nerve energy in your body gives life to each and every cell. Your nerve energy is responsible for growing, healing, repairing, and coordinating function in your cells. The nerve energy in your body is like a grow light. Think of an indoor garden with grow lights. If the light is full and in the proper amount, the plants will grow well (with good soil (food) and water of course). If the lights are shut off, the plants will wither and die. If the lights are too intense, the plants will eventually burn out and die. What if the lights are dimmed? The plants will wither, become weak and unhealthy. Well, this same thing is what often happens in people. Our nerve energy can be dimmed, and over time, we weaken and get unhealthy. This is why chiropractic care is so important, because it helps turn on the nerve energy in the full and proper amounts to every part of the body. And when your nerve energy is working best, you are at your best.
The reason I work with the spine as a chiropractor is because I am interested in the nerve energy. Your spine affects your nerve energy and your nerve energy affects your life. Everything you think, say, or do is perceived and carried out through your nerve system - everything. Your nerve energy controls your heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, muscles, eyes...everything. Simply put, better nerve energy creates a better life. Yeshi Donden
Yeshi Donden was the long-time personal physician to HH the Dalai Lama. In this story, he visits a US hospital.
"I join the clutch of whitecoats waiting in the small conference room adjacent to the ward selected for the rounds. Yeshi Dhonden, we are told , will examine a patient selected by a member of the staff. The diagnosis is unknown to Yeshi Dhonden as it is to us. We are further informed that for the past two hours Yeshi Dhonden has purified himself by bathing, by fasting, and prayer. I, having breakfasted well, performed only the desultory of ablutions, and given no thought at all to my soul, glance furtively at my fellows. Suddenly we seem a soiled, uncouth lot.
The patient had been awakened early and told that she was to be examined by a foreign doctor, and had been asked to produce a fresh specimen of urine, so when we enter her room, the woman shows no surprise...
Yeshi Dhonden steps to the bedside while the rest stand apart, watching. For a long time he gazes at the woman, favoring no part of her body with his eyes, but seeming to fix his glance at a place just above her supine form. I, too, study her. No physical sign or obvious symptom gives a clue to the nature of her disease. At last he takes her hand, raising it in both of her own. Now he bends over the bed in kind of a crouching stance, his head drawn down into the collar of his robe. His eyes are closed as he feels for her pulse. In a moment he has found the spot, and for the next half hour he remains thus, suspended above the patient like some exotic bird with folded wings, holding the pulse of the woman beneath his fingers, cradling her hand in his. All the power of the man seems to have been drawn down into this one purpose. It is palpitation of the pulse raised to the state of ritual.
I cannot see their hands joined in a correspondence that is exclusive, intimate, his fingertips receiving the voice of her sick body through the rhythm and throb she offers at her wrist. All at once I am envious- not of him but of her. I want to be held like that, touched so, received. And I know that I who have palpated a hundred thousand pulses, have not felt a single one.
At last Yeshi Dhonden straightens, gently places the woman's hand upon the bed, and steps back. The interpreter produces a small wooden bowl and two sticks. Yeshi Dhonden pours a potion of the urine specimen into the bowl and proceeds to whip the liquid with two sticks. This he does for several minutes until a foam is raised. Then, bowing above the bowl, he inhales the odor three times. He sets down the bowl and turns to leave. All this while he has not uttered a word. As he nears the door, the woman raises her head and calls out to him. "Thank you doctor," she says, and touches with her other hand the place he had held on her wrist. Yeshi Dhonden turns back for a moment to gaze at her, then steps into the corridor. Rounds are at an end.
We are seated once more in the conference room. Yeshi Dhonden speaks now for the first time. He speaks of winds coursing through the body of the woman, currents that break against barriers, eddying. These vortices are in her blood, he says. The last spendings of an imperfect heart. Between the chambers of her heart, long long before she was born, a wind had come and blown open a deep gate that must never be opened. Through it charge the full waters of her river, as the mountain stream cascades in the springtime, battering, knocking loose the land, and flooding herbreath. Thus he speaks and is now silent..."
The host of the rounds speaks, with the diagnosis he has known: "Congenital heart disease, interventricular septal defect, with resultant heart failure."

Eat Well-Move Well-Think Well TM
Greetings-
Many of you know that James Chestnut MS DC CCWP has written four great books concerning evidence based wellness care (showing the scientific literature that supports wellness care for health and well being). Dr. Chestnut's work is excellent!!! I wish that everyone had the oppurtunity to learn this empowering information.
It boils down to these simple truths. The state or level of health we experience depends on the state or level of health of the cell. (The cells in our bodies are the basic unit of life. Cells make up tissues, tissues make up organs, and organs make up systems). When our cells are healthy we experience health.
The question is then, what makes our cells healthy and what makes them unhealthy? In his books, James clearly answers this question. I will summarize it: Purity and Sufficiency is what makes the cells healthy...Toxicity and Deficiency is what makes the cells unhealthy. Interestingly enough, genetics is not responsible for the chronic degenerative diseases mostly all Americans face today. Yes, genetics is not responsible for the epidemic of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity. Yes, once again let me repeat...do I need to go on. I urge people to attend my seminars or read Dr. Chestnut's books, because the general public is being dangerously misinformed!!!
Genetic disorders do exist i.e.: Downs Syndrome, Cystic Fibrosis, and Hemophelia are examples of genetic disorders because everytime someone has that genetic makeup they get the disorder. A million times out of a million. Perhaps I will write more sometime about Epigenetics, genomes, phenotypes and gene expression, however for now let us get back to eating well, moving well and thinking well.
The key to being more healthy is to focus on adding more purity and sufficiency into your life in respect to how you eat, move, and think. Focusing on eating well, moving well, and thinking well will create higher levels of health. You can start by adding raw organic fruits and vegetables into your meals, moving your body with whole body movements (walking, swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates, tai chi), and thinking loving thoughts of spiritual connection will create more health in your cells, thus make you a healthier you. Part of moving well is having a spine that moves well, and seeing a chiropractor regularly is paramount for the health of your cells!!!
As far as the toxicity and deficiency issue goes, follow this recommendation: the more purity and sufficiency you add (good stuff) the less toxicity and deficiency you will crave and accumulate (the bad stuff). Literally, focusing on adding the good stuff rather than worrying about the bad stuff. In addition to focusing on the good stuff it would be wise to detoxify and cleanse the body on a regular basis (toxins accumulate through time). There are many ways to do this, and maybe that will be a blog for another day. For simplicity sake, I would suggest having a raw day or two or three (or 30 days...see www.rawfor30days.com ) in which you would have only raw fruits and vegetables (locally grown organic is best, if possible). Another simple way to get the body to start detoxifying and cleansing is to use alkalized ionized water ( www.newlifewater.info ).
I hope that this motivates you to implement more purity and sufficiency into your life and/or encourages you to read up on this information and learn more.
